At the Institute, we are using Human Data Science to address some of the biggest questions facing our industry, from creating more efficient systems and better disease prevention and treatment, to enabling more effective delivery of health services. To best illustrate our purpose at the Institute, and our commitment to Human Data Science, we are presenting a whole new way to look at data.
What is Algorithmic Art?
Using many different algorithms that generate abstract art from data – our data – we have developed an exciting, new visual system that elevates both the science and the art of data science.
How does it work?
The algorithms ingest a data set and plot values in a single dimension. Then, based on what shape the algorithm articulates, that base shape goes through a series of looping, mirroring, and rotation to create the final complexity.
The complexity of the final shape – its dimensionality along the x, y and z axes; the magnitude of peaks and valleys; all of it is directly related to the robustness and complexity of the data itself.
